VDA 6.3 - Qualification for Process Auditor


Using the process approach and the respective customer-specific requirements, this 4-day training teaches you the basics for VDA 6.3 process auditors. The introduction to the basics of process auditing includes general requirements, methods, principles, assessment scheme and risk analysis. Furthermore, the underlying questionnaire is explained according to the assigned process elements, so that through the process audit you can identify the respective risks and potentials along the supply chain.

Course Information

This 4-day training provides you with the basics for performing process audits according to VDA 6.3 (2023), considering the process-oriented approach and customer specific requirements for comprehensive application in the automotive industry.

The training alternates between technical presentations, practical exercises, and case studies to support the transfer of what has been learned into your own working practice. Special emphasis is placed on opportunities to exchange experiences.

Targeted Qualification - Supplier Auditor or Certified Process Auditor:

  • Excellent knowledge of quality tools and methods (e.g., SPC, VDA Volume 5/MSA, FMEA, VDA MLA/APQP, VDA Volume 2/PPAP, 8D Method)
  • If required, knowledge regarding software development processes and methods
  • Auditor qualifications (conversation management, conflict management, audit procedure)
  • Knowledge of the relevant customer-specific requirements
  • Knowledge of the relevant management system requirements (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 9001, VDA 6.1)
  • Product and process-specific knowledge regarding the technology to be audited
  • A minimum of 5 years' professional experience, including at least 2 years' experience in quality-related fields of activity.

QUALIFICATION CERTIFICATE

After passing the knowledge test (multiple choice) you will receive a VDA 6.3 (2023) Certificate of Qualification

Please understand after attending this course you will not be a Certified VDA 6.3 Process Auditor. To satisfy that requirement, you will need to sit for the VDA 6.3 - Examination for Certified Process Auditor (1-day) or attend the VDA 6.3 - Qualification for Process Auditor with Examination (5-day) course. To sit for the VDA 6.3 Certified Process Auditor exam you must complete (VDA Application Form).

Course Material: VDA Volume 6.3. For the current edition of the VDA 6.3 process audit, a new evaluation and documentation tool has been developed as a web application. Users can obtain the VDA 6.3 Analysis Tool from the VDA QMC web shop: www.webshop.vda.de/qmc

  • Employees from QM departments who perform process audits in their own organization (internally),
  • Employees from QM departments who perform process audits in the supply chain (externally)
  • External auditors (deployed as service providers)

Upon successful completion of the training attendees will:

  • Be familiar with the general requirements and fundamental principles of VDA 6.3 (2023)
  • Know how to use and perform the risk analysis in a technically correct manner
  • Be able to apply the questionnaire in practice using the process elements (P1-P7)
  • Know how to identify the relevant risks using the process audit, to point out potentials and ensure a reliable evaluation
  • Be able to obtain and explain a comparable result on the basis of the evaluation system and perform process audits both internally and at suppliers' locations independently and in a technically correct manner
