Advancing Sustainability Across the Global Value Chain

Ana Arce has spent over 15 years in the tire industry witnessing sustainability evolve into a central priority across the automotive value chain. In her role as senior manager of sustainability, stakeholder engagement, and business development at Bridgestone Americas, she works closely with customers, including OEMs, to align on sustainability requirements and identify opportunities to create shared value.

That collaborative mindset is what drew Arce to volunteer with AIAG. She saw AIAG as a natural extension of her work and a place where meaningful industry conversations take shape.

“Having represented my company in various national and international forums, joining AIAG felt like an organic next step,” she says. “The more I learned about their specific work streams, the more I realized how well they align with our strategic goals.”

Through her recent work with multiple OEMs, she recognized how valuable AIAG is as a platform for collaboration and progress.

“Sustainability is only truly impactful when we work together,” Arce says. “There is no better way to drive solutions than from within an organization like AIAG, where the most critical discussions are happening."

Although she is new to volunteering with AIAG, Arce has already been energized by the experience. She points to the organization of the team and the shared expertise among participants as standout elements.

“I’ve been deeply impressed by the high level of technical knowledge among the participants,” she says. “Everyone speaks the same ‘language’ of sustainability, and the collective level of commitment is a fantastic sign for the future of our work groups.”

As she continues to deepen her involvement, Arce is particularly excited about contributing to foundational work within her group. She finds the opportunity to help define strategy and connect with peers in person especially meaningful. For her, volunteering is about contributing expertise, building relationships, and informing the direction of the industry.

Her experience with AIAG also brings value back to her organization. By engaging directly with industry leaders, Arce gains insight into evolving expectations, strengthens alignment with customers, and helps ensure her company remains actively involved in shaping sustainable solutions.

Arce encourages others who are considering volunteering with AIAG to take the leap.

“Just do it!” she says. “Volunteering is a powerful way to bridge your internal organizational role with broader industry activities that have a lasting impact on the value chain.”

Like many new volunteers, Arce’s journey is just beginning, but her perspective underscores the importance of stepping forward. Through collaboration, shared knowledge, and a willingness to engage, she sees AIAG as a place where individuals can make a substantial difference for their companies and for the future of the industry.
