USMCA

USMCA presents a new set of challenges for the industry. With the added complexity and raised expectations of OEMs, we all need to educate ourselves. AIAG's USMCA Content Reporting course is a fantastic resource to learn about the changes brought forth by USMCA and the new requirements everyone in the automotive supply chain must follow to ensure success.

Steve Britt, Senior Manager Customs | North America, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles

The new USMCA Content Reporting course – developed by OEM, supplier, and free trade agreement experts – is an in-depth, comprehensive training geared toward automotive trade compliance practitioners and working managers. The training is scheduled for two consecutive days (16 hours total) and will be offered in a highly interactive virtual setting for 2020 & 2021.

Given AIAG's long history of supporting automotive suppliers with training on NAFTA and AALA, the new USMCA training that we have prepared offers a great opportunity for suppliers to continue this relationship with AIAG and hopefully paves the way for consistent application of the USMCA rules across the entire auto industry.

Marc Sunday, L.C.B., Origin Manager | Ford Motor Company

Over the years, Honda has been a big supporter of AIAG’s Supplier Content Reporting class and has sent multiple associates to the training. The newly developed USMCA course comprises the same high quality material and delivery. The instructors are knowledgeable and work through several examples which help solidify one’s understanding. The virtual format of Adobe Connect is also interactive and keeps participants engaged. We have plans to send all staff members involved in local content reporting and FTA analysis to this training.

Allison J. Neumann, Senior Manager, Trade Services | American Honda Motor Company

The new AIAG USMCA training includes the following:

  • An in-depth review of the new rules of origin, complete with industry-relevant examples.
  • An in-depth review of the Core, Principal, and Complementary Tables for Passenger Vehicles, Light and Heavy Trucks, and how to identify when to use the tables, and how to calculate regional value content.
  • A step-by-step qualification processes to qualify your good(s) as eligible.
  • An in-depth review of specific terms, complete with examples (e.g., de minimis, intermediate goods, averaging, etc.).
  • Origin Certification: Required data elements; industry-developed solicitation template.
  • A comprehensive handbook (the AIAG Supplier Content Reporting Requirements Workbook) which will serve as a handy future reference guide, including detailed qualification examples.

Note: The new USMCA Content Reporting course replaces the previous AIAG NAFTA Content Reporting course and will be taught in a similar format and manner – virtually!

Well presented! Excellent examples! The 2 days went very fast. A must for every supplier who qualifies their product under the USMCA.
